Deadline extended to April the 5th!

Bricolage, pronounced /?bri?ko??l???/, /?br?ko??l???/ is a term used in several disciplines, among them the visual arts and literature, to refer to the construction or creation of a work from a diverse range of things which happen to be available, or a work created by such a process. The term is borrowed from the French word bricolage, from the verb bricoler – the core meaning in French being, "fiddle, tinker" and, by extension, "make creative and resourceful use of whatever materials are at hand (regardless of their original purpose)"

This is a month-long games-creation event.  No officials favourites or winners, and I'll arrange for all the entries to be neatly shown on a page together at the end.

Entries:
Wirewalk by agj
untitled, by Bento
Knot-Pharmacard Subcondition J by Brog
Blendings by Stephen L

Late/Delayed efforts:
auto mate by greg
The Rape of the Sabine Women by Nicholas Musurca
Borderline by perrin

So, to submit your entry, or to keep us up to date on how it's getting along, or to get feedback, just post a thread in the 'games' forum, prefacing it with Bricolage ( "Bricolage - Collect only fifty sheeps" , say).

When you're done, change the post title to "Bricolage - XXX - DONE", and modify the first post to contain links to somewhere where the works can be downloaded/played.

So, deadline is on April the 5th

All clear?

Interesting. So the "theme" for the compo is... do whatever you feel like, with whatever is in front of you?

Pumped.

You can interpret it however you want.

I'm not sure I understood exactly what makes something a bricolage, but the examples here (link) are giving me ideas.

Ah me too : )

I'm tempted to make a platformer via Burrough's cut-up technique, but this would best serve itself as a rom hack of a popular title instead of a stand-alone piece. I'll stew on this for a while and hopefully think up something.

Sure, why not! :)

I don't have any ideas right now, but maybe I'll dig through my old sketchbooks and see if I can recycle something.

Definitely got some ideas for this. Will make something once I get back from GDC.

My computer will be back this week, so I'm in.  My plan is to paste the code for all the unfinished prototypes I have lying around into one file, mix them up a bit and aimlessly add some interactions between them, then try to get the whole thing to compile.

I don't know what to do with the theme, but I'll try to whip something up

Okay, I need to make something for this, but I have absolutely no ideas.
Would anyone like to offer me some direction or suggestions to help inspire something?

Wikipedia is always your friend. :3

(Apologies for the obviousness of that)

Sounds like Katamari could fit the theme.
